About
I.C.C.A CHURCH HISTORYGod spoke to a few Christians, including Pastor Geoffrey Muchoki, about starting a church in Baltimore in early 1997. The Holy Spirit was grieved by the spiritual condition of Kenyans living in Baltimore. About June of 2000, Pastor Muchoki invited some Christians to pray and discuss about starting the church. Kenyans were in a growing spiral of destructive behaviors that resulted in loss of life in some cases. Many Kenyans had very bad reputation resulting into anxieties for parents and our communities back in Kenya. Present in the first meeting was Pastor Muchoki, Mrs. Gathogo, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Karanja Mwaura and family, and Mr. and Mrs. Ndung’u. In this meeting it was decided that the name of church will be International Christian Community Church (ICCC). Members present agreed that the Church should be started to cater for spiritual needs of Kenyans and other communities. The major challenge at this point was to secure a place for worship. Within the next few weeks Pastor Muchoki in a follow-up meeting, reported that the plans to open up the church were finalized. Pastor Muchoki had identified a location and secured the premises with a security deposit. The premises where Pastor acquired, has continued to be the location for I.C.C.Church to date. The premise was in dire need of a clean up, because the location was previously used as a disco joint. Pastor Muchoki mobilized friends and well-wishers and got the place cleaned thoroughly. The I.C.C.Church opened its doors for service on Sunday July 9th 2000 under Pastor Geoffrey Muchoki leadership. Most Christian, friends and well wishers from within and around Baltimore attended the first service. Since the launching of I.C.C.Church, there has been a service every Sunday. We thank God for the different ministries that are functional at our Church to date. The I.C.C.Church is made up by various ministries e.g.;
Pastor Geoffrey Muchoki was the founder and the first Pastor of the I.C.C.Church. When Pastor Muchoki left, the Church Elders requested Pastor John N. Karanja to give Spiritual and Pastoral leadership to the I.C.C.Church congregation. After consultations with ACK Bishop, Rev. Karanja accepted, and was released by the Anglican Bishop from all obligations of the Anglican Communion to serve I.C.C.Church. On 25th May 2003, in the presence of a representative of the Bishop from Kenya, Rev. Michael Lolwekoi who was the principle of Berea Theological College in Kenya, in a colorful ceremony, held at this Church, Pastor John N. Karanja was inducted and commissioned as the Pastor - in Charge of I.C.C.Church. Since then, International Christian Community Church has become a home for many Christians from all denominations without regard to race, color, ethnic origin, or religious background. We have continued to invite different guest speakers and Pastors to preach. This has been a big blessing to our congregation. It is our prayers that through God’s grace we will strive to work in cooperation with all other Churches and Church Organizations that teach the Christian doctrine in the Name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. We stand for Unity, Reconciliation and Repentance. On Christ the Solid Rock we Stand. |
