Rev. Canon John Ndung’u Karanja is a man of the people, a family man, an entrepreneur, a community leader, a public speaker, a philanthropist, an evangelist at heart and currently the pastor in charge of International Christians Community Church, Baltimore Maryland. U.S.A.
Pastor John is a man who sees further, earlier and more than many of his contemporaries. This is the stuff that leaders are made of. His leadership genius has been noted in many fields including churches, education, Internet, etc. He was among founder members of The Berea Bible Institute and Resource Center in Nakuru Kenya and a founder member of All Saints Church Hall with a sitting capacity of 1500 people. He was also very instrumental in the establishment of Neema Children’s Home, Naivasha Children’s Home for the destitute children, and Emanuel Children’s home. He was among the first in Kenya to recognize the importance of Internet in church ministry and was honored by African On-Line Internet Service Provider for his support.
A great leader is a good communicator. This is another gift that Pastor Karanja has developed and excelled in. He has been used by God to facilitate Church Leadership seminars in many parts of Kenya. He is known in The Gideon International Ministry as a man who comprehends issues and articulates them with clarity. Between 1996 and 2002, Pastor Karanja was heard almost every morning and evening in the Kenya Broadcasting Cooperation’s (K.B.C) the government owned radio stations in Kenya, on religious programs. Pastor Karanja traveled all east African countries, Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania and therefore, many churches around these countries had an opportunity to listen to this man of God.
Pastor John Karanja is a man of few words but many actions. Those who have interacted with him know him as a philanthropist per excellence. He has been a conduit of God’s blessings to churches, schools, individuals and many others. For instance the Presbyterian church of East Africa and the Anglican church of Kenya recognized him respectively for his generosity and support in churches development activities. He is a life member of The Bible Society of Kenya – sharing in the cost of translation, production and distribution of the Word of God. The Kenya Young Men’s Christian Association (Y.M.C.A) recognized his outstanding gift for his support in the Street Children’s Programs in Kenya. Although he has fathered only six children, he has over the years sponsored the education of many needy children around the whole country.
Pastor John did not stop there as he felt the need of serving the congregation in their different needs better and therefore; he enrolled with Freedom Bible College and seminary on June 2004, where he earned Bachelors of ministry degree, on Christian Counseling Psychology. Through his hard work, Pastor Karanja earned Master of Clinical Pastoral Counseling and finally Doctor of Ministry on Christians Counseling Psychology. Pastor Karanja has also earned many Outstanding Performance Awards from different Institutions within the short time he have been in US. We thank God for this man of God who has humbly devoted his life for the service of the Church with humility. God bless our Pastor.
