Laughter Is The Best Medicine!
Folks, I believe it was wonderful to learn how to manage your anger and manage it and also you can manage your stress. (See Anger Management and stress Management Articles) Now, I would like to come up with a free prescription which can help you manage the whole estate of your body. Science Agrees with the Bible that, Laughter is the Best Medicine of heart and therefore, I would urge you to think about Laughing and then laugh and laugh as much as you can. The researchers say it is possible for all 400 muscles of the body to move during laughter so don’t take laughter for granted but make it a habit of laughing more than fifteen times every day. While still wondering whether laughter can really be that good for us, I want to assure you that, the Bible definitely supports such a notion. Not only does God state that it is good to have a hearty laugh, but Science has finally caught up with these words in the Bible that says; “A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.” Proverbs 17:22
Many serious scientists have been looking into the physical effects of laughter and they have found that, laughter creates immediate relaxation that causes all the muscles of the body to release their energy.
Science verifies that a good laugh is healthy for the heart and the entire body, “According to a recent study by cardiologists at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, Dr. Michael Miller, M.D. says that, Laughter is the best medicine especially when it comes to protecting your heart. The researchers say that laughing apparently causes the endothelium, the tissue that lines blood vessels, to expand, which increases blood flow. Laughter may also improve arterial health by reducing mental stress, which constricts vessels and cuts blood flow.” These study indicate that laughter may help you prevent heart diseases confirming what the Bible says in Proverbs that; “A happy heart makes the face cheerful, but heartache crushes the spirit. Proverbs 15:13
When you are happy, you will be able to smile and laugh, which does good to the body like medicine, but when you have a broken spirit which refers to being depressed, it weakens the body’s immune system. So there is no way you can deny the fact that, your spiritual well being is connected to your physical health. In order to have a merry heart you need to learn how to stay healthy.
Now I want you to take a serious look at laughter and how it can fit into the scheme of your adjustment, relationships, and mental health before you become seriously ill. Laughter is good for your health not only to make you feel good, but beyond the physiological effects of laughter, a good sense of humor is essential for dealing with all the negative stresses, the anxiety that produces hassles in your life, and all other life obstacles. Friends, you may not understand how you weaken your own body system by your own negative emotions like anger, bitterness, resentment, unforgiveness, hatred, envy, jealousy and so on. Let me tell you, a short period of anger can reduce your immune system efficiency for six hours, but a good laugh will increase the efficiency of your immune system for twenty four or more hours. Laughing can help your body to fight off illnesses by boosting your immune system in the body, and increases the amount of immunoglobulin, the natural killer cells in the body that sense and fight the early tumors or infectious agents in the body.
Studies show that anger; negative thinking and bad-temperedness suppress your immune system, while a good dose of laughter alleviates pain and does well to the body. Therefore I would urge you to take the following Scripture seriously; “Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. Ephesians 4:31
God indeed endow us with the faculty of laughter either as a learned behaviuor or natural, because it is a good remedy to uneasiness and panic that takes some of the disease’s power away and allow the body to successfully fight the disease. The Studies have shown that, physiological effects of laughter in the immune system can increase the number and activity of T cells and natural killer cells, which attack viruses, foreign cells and cancer cells. It shows also that it increases gamma interferon the blood chemical which transmits the messages in the nervous system and stimulates the immune system.
Research indicated that, a good laughter exercises the cardiovascular system by raising and lowering the heart rate and blood pressure. It shows that laughter can improve the coordination of brain functions that enhance the alertness and memories, lifting the depression, reducing the stress, bring the pain relief to the body, aid ventilation and clear mucus in the respiratory system. Laughter also increases blood oxygen by bringing in the fresh air, and strengthen internal muscles by tightening and releasing them. Laughter can improve your health dramatically and boost your immune system. Medical research says that, laughter boosts the levels of endorphins, the body's natural painkillers, which also stimulate feelings of well being and joy and suppresses stress hormones. Laughter inspires the immune system and increases the cells that destroy viruses and tumours. In fact laughter has all beneficial effect you need on your overall well being. What a wonderful free prescription that God provided for us.
According to “Dr Suresh Govind, a professor at the Faculty of Medicine in the University of Malaya said, it will be healthy for the adults to adopt the innocent laughter of babies for just one simple reason; because it is healthy to laugh. He said, babies laugh 300 times in a day but as they grow older, their laughter becomes less and finally when they become adults, their laughter decreased to only 15 times a day.” In order to be health folks, you should learn to laugh more often than that and train yourself to look on the bright side of things. If you want to attain real happiness and laugh every day in your life, you must remove all kind of anger, bitterness, resentment, unforgiveness, hatred, frustration, guilt or fear because they disturb the natural healthy functioning of the immune system, but laughter will inspire the immune system and helps prevent infections.
